Affiliate marketing is a very good way to learn how to run an online business. Creating a new product from scratch takes a lot of time and money. I have put together some advanced techniques that you can use to achieve greater success with affiliate marketing:

1) Use a squeeze page

Very few affiliates use the technique of a squeeze page. Most of them drive traffic to a sales page. Unfortunately most visitors are not ready to buy the very first time that they see a website. By driving all your traffic to a squeeze page and having a sales funnel where you first build a relationship with your subscribers you will improve your conversion significantly.

2) Choose a niche market with many backend products

One of the big problems that you will experience in your internet business is if you target a niche market where you can only sell one product. Most of your profits will come from selling many backend products. So if you only have one product to market then you are not going to make a lot of money. For example if you market an ebook on dog training once your subscriber has bought the book there is not going to be much else that you can sell them.

3) Have a well executed advertising plan

One of the major problems that you will experience is that unless you drive sufficient traffic to your website it is going to be very difficult for you to succeed. You need to actively market your website. Have both a free advertising and paid advertising plan. Write articles and submit them to article directories. Post frequently to forums, advertise in ezines and use ppc. Also do search engine optimization on your website.

EBay is a big market where you are able to sell almost all kinds of merchandises. You can go to eBay and browse through all the product categories to have an idea what are the products on sales. However, to sell merchandise on eBay, you will need to know about the characteristic of the product you intent to sell, in particular the product life cycle.

If you intent to sell a fast moving consumer product such as digital camera, PC, handphones, etc, you will need to know about the product life cycle as these products evolve very fast. Typically, the product life cycle behavior as a normal distribution curve or a bell shape curve. It consists of four phases, namely the Launching Phase, Full-Retail Phase, End-of-Life Phase and Liquidation Phase.

In the Launching Phase, this is the time where the product is just introduced into the market. It is new to the market where everybody is very interested about it and wants to get hold of it. As time goes by, the product will go into the Full-Retail Phase where you can find it selling everywhere and at the same price. During this phase, most of the people would have already purchased the product if they intent to have. And the purchased is usually done at retail shops. As times go further, the product will go into the End-of-Life Phase, where the sales and interest of the product start to decline. And finally, the product goes into the Liquidation Phase whereby the interest almost reduced to zero. Usually, at this final phase, a new product will be launched.

So how does these information helps you on the product selection? As can be seen from the behavior, there are two phases during the product life cycle you can exploit. They are the Launching Phase and the Liquidation Phase. In the Launching Phase, this is the time where the interest in high where buyers are looking for something new and hope that they can get a good bargain from eBay. At times, due to the great interest, the buyers do not mind to pay a little more.

Whereas in the Liquidation Phase, the buyer is really looking for some big bargain. They do not mind that the product is a bit out of fashion as long as it can still function. They do not mind the reduced in features as compared to those newly launched. So, you can see, if you are selling consumer products, these are the two phases where making a sales is more likely than the middle two phases. This is because, there are no reasons for the buyer to buy from eBay when they can get the products anywhere and at the same price.

However, this product life cycle may not be applicable to antique or collectibles. For this category of merchandises, there is really no time line tag to it. The buyer will buy as long as they like what you are selling.

So as you can see, knowing the product life cycle and the way how it is being marketed in the market is crucial in your eBay product selection. Choosing the product to sell when they are in the middle two phases may not be desirable whereas choosing the product at the two extreme phases may be the best option. It is reported that buyers are expecting a reduction of between 20% to 50% off the retail price when buying on eBay. You can only give these offers most likely at the Liquidation Phase as you are able to get the product at much lower cost. This is because, the manufacturer or whole seller are trying to dispose whatever stock they have to prepare for the new model.

It was also reported that liquidation product sells for 10% to 20% of cost. This means that, they are making a lost of 80 to 90%. It was also reported that for items that are in the Launching phase, they can sell anywhere from 10 to 100% above the retail price on eBay. This is particular true that during every holiday season, popular items such as toy are typically sold out at department stores and you can generally get it at eBay. This is the time whereby you can fetch a good price for your product.

Doorway and Feeder pages can be immensely powerful in building a flow of traffic to your website. In particular, they attract TARGETED visitors that convert more readily to sales and subscribers.

It's important to see these pages as part of an overall marketing strategy, with all the elements working together towards attracting and channelling your target audience.

First, what is meant by doorway (or feeder) pages? In the sense that I'm using them, they are web pages especially designed to rank high in the search engines for a particular key word or phrase. I'm NOT including what is basically a blank page - without any useful content to the visitor - that redirects to another webpage. The doorway pages I'm describing here (and recommending) are content-rich and optimized for your chosen keywords.

They could be articles you've written yourself, modified Private Label articles, and even reprint articles that have been preceded by your own specially prepared, keyword rich, introduction.

It's tempting to see your website as the center of your particular universe. But the strategy I'm describing does NOT pack your website with doorway pages. Rather, I'm suggesting that you step back and see your main website as the star, or center, of your solar system.

Assume that your main website has been handling, say, 30 products related to the care of dogs. This could include Dog Training, Hunting With Dogs, Feeding Dogs, Health Care For Dogs, Breeding Dogs, etc.

The structure that I recommend you consider requires you to register a domain for each of the products that you sell, or for each major theme. For each of these you create a mini site for that product (or theme). This will contain a sales and ordering page. The ordering page will point back to your main website (where the sale is concluded). These mini sites form the planets of your system and they link to the center - the star.

Each of these mini sites is served by at least 5 doorway (or feeder) sites that contain the information rich pages referred to above. These can, for instance, be generated by programs such as Article Miner or Traffic Equalizer. The feeder pages, naturally, all point towards their related mini site. They form the satellites for the planets and link to them.

You provide useful information to the visitor, but the main purpose of the feeder sites is to direct traffic that has been received from the search engines to the planets, ie, to the mini sites, and finally to the star.

If designed properly, page ranking will also be passed forward, as will the links. By having numerous feeder sites that rank well with the search engines, you are creating valuable back links for those sites they link to. Just be sure that the linking is pointed one way - towards the planets and the star.

However, do note that mini sites are not highly regarded for ranking purposes by some of the search engines. If you are selling products on your mini sites, this can be acceptable. If you are aiming for free traffic that you want to funnel towards higher paying Adsense-type adverts on your main site - the star in your system - then you will want page ranking that can be passed on to the star (to atract more traffic). In this case, use a content-rich site for the planet, with ten or more Private Label articles on the topic of this site. Don't use articles with anyone else's outbound links. Save these for the satellites.

I had the privilege of listening to a very interesting lecture at a holistic event about something I never really thought about, the practice of circumcision on male babies in the U.S. I learned that doctors do this on a routine basis, charging anywhere between $150 and $300 per male baby to not only remove a large part of his penis, but do it in an inhumane way. The doctors generally reassure parents that this is the way to go, for cleanliness or the prevention of disease.

Now, I dont believe a mistake was made when man was created, do you? Even if one doesn't believe in creation, nature just doesn't repeatedly make what doctors are considering to be faults in baby boys that must be fixed. I understand that those of the Jewish faith regularly circumcise the male child but according to what I have learned, they only remove a very small portion of the foreskin at the tip of the glans. Doctors in the U.S. remove the whole thing which is a lot of skin and amounts to approximately the size of a 3 x 5 inch index card in an adult male! Many times they accidentally remove even more skin than this and boys grow up with either painful erections or their erections are bent because the skin is stretched too tight. Both men and women usually believe that's just the way some penises look and never question it. There can be other complications also. Circumcised males grow up never knowing that they lost a natural function of the penis and lost a great amount of sexual pleasure.

Females are born with the same exact thing as males have, a foreskin called a prepuce and the same smega, which is just some dead skin. In the U.S., it would never cross the doctor's or parent's mind to cut off part of their baby girl's genitals for cleanliness. It just doesnt happen. Some countries today practice circumcising and castrating female babies but cleanliness is certainly not the reason. I believe this practice is abhorrent and something needs to be done now to end it. During the lecture, the speaker said Clinton made circumcising female babies illegal in the U.S.

I heard and read about how the babies are circumcised in this country. Their arms and legs are strapped down to a restraint board and during the procedure, they scream in pain and terror. This makes my heart go out to all male babies in this country and elsewhere where this is practiced. I learned that only until recently in the U.S. did doctors begin using some kind of anesthetic for the baby but this is not a common practice.

What a way to come into the world! So I wonder, what affect does this practice have on males about themselves and their self-worth? How has this traumatic experience manifested in the male's life while growing up and as a man? And why is this still being practiced in America?

Fortunately, there is light at the end of the tunnel. The lecturer gave me a book written by Thomas J. Ritter, M.D. and George C. Denniston, M.D. called, Doctors Re-examine Circumcision. It seems that many physicians around the U.S. are now speaking out against circumcision.

"The United States is the only country in the entire world that routinely circumcises most of its newborn males for other than religious reasons. [p. 16-1]

It contains pictures and diagrams of circumcision procedures, including pictures of mistakes with the procedure, resulting in a deformed penis or no penis at all. In the event of an accidental, complete amputation of the penis, which apparently happens, the doctor would just create a vagina. The book also has pictures of what a penis is really supposed to look like and all of the benefits an natural, uncircumcised penis has. It examines the many myths people have been told over the years of why circumcision is "necessary".

What moral or legal right does any parent have to remove a valuable and normal segment of another human beings body? Would it be moral or legal to remove the tip of every males left little finger, or to knock out a front tooth, because it was fashionable and everyone else was doing it? [p. 13-1]

The good news is that there is a movement of circumcised men around the country to grow their foreskins back! A man is actually able to regain a large amount of sensitivity after growing back what was taken from in the first place, without his consent. Our bodies are truly miraculous! Since the lecture, I've shared this information with many men and women. I believe the more we examine and talk about this practice of circumcision, the more something can be done about ending it, not only in the U.S. but throughout the world.
